I don't see an explicit expiration date listed on the main page, but the T&Cs say:
You must pay the renewal fee, in addition to any applicable taxes and credit card processing fees, in full by July 31, 2022, unless otherwise stated.

I was actually considering the inverse. Flying AA to earn miles and get AS status. However, it looks like many AA fares only earn miles at a 50% rate. That would kill any effort to try earn AS status on AA fights.

$2k for me.
EQD is currently at $8k but only on 42k EQM / 44 EQS.
I won’t be doing it.
I have a few trips booked through Feb, but nothing that is going to net anywhere near 18k EQM. Will likely be another $1k of EQD though.
Another year of PLT awaits.

I got a terrible offer for $1800 for plat; I’m only 2200 EQM and $1300 EQD away. Even if they offered it to me for $1000 I’d give it a hard pass, especially since status would be only until march 2023, not 2024.
As other poster states, if I ran $75,000 office rent through plastiq (tax deductible expense) and estimated taxes, this would be “just” $1425 or so AND get me 75,000 miles (this itself would be worth at least $900), AND the status I earned would be valid for all of 2022 and 2023- until March 2024.
I’ve been lucky and upgraded to first on three one ways to and from HNL as a gold (scored exit row to LIH) and well as from EWR to PHX and a few other shorter ones. If gold isn’t diluted by loyalty points, I’d consider charging $30,000 through plastiq/ estimated taxes every other April (to get status for rest of year and next year). Paying $600 in plastiq/ processing fees to get 30,000 points (worth $360) is like paying $240 for two years’ gold status! I don’t have quite enough expenses to run the 75,000 every two years, and I already have a truckload of AA points from Bask Bank.

These offers are particularly crazy when people are saying they can get to Gold or Plat with $1,000 or less in spending at SimplyMiles or RocketMiles under the new LP system.

did not get special offer, but...
I did not get a "special offer", but I had already reached PPro by Nov 2021, and had spent the $2000 EQD to renew EXP until 2023 under that "promo offer". I only got 1 SWU, of course.
Unfortunately, while I will shortly reach the 80K EQM requirement to get the extra 3 SWU the usual way, I'll still be short ~$4K EQD ... sigh. So it seems highly likely that I will fall back on my LT PLT status next year, barring any "very special offer".
