This doesn't sound like alcohol. More likely drugs and mental illness. Those frequently go together.
In Honduras, they are unlikely to catch and release as they would in NY or SF.

Are you sure about that? The jail/prison in San Pedro Sula is pretty notorious.

Having said that - I believe I heard on the news this morning that the man was set free because AA declined to press charges at that moment, but that they are now considering pressing charges <?>

More good news, he didn't puke all over the flight deck, which might require a ten minute delay to do a comprehensive sanitation cleanup.
