Optimistically last summer I booked a flight to London with miles. I live in Mexico. The flights were GDL-DFW-LHR in Business.
the return was LHR-Mexico City on BA. There lies the problem. I cancelled the flights not long after due to more Covid. I got the miles back on the AA portion but did not get the miles OR the 11,822 pesos ($580.00) back in the fees, etc. So I started calling the Mexico AA offices. As in the States, I have spent hours all told listening to recordings and when I get through the connection is so bad, I cant hear them or vice versa. The last time a couple weeks ago I was told I would get the miles and cash back in 5-7 business days. I didnt.

So I poked around the app and found where I could track refunds. The 11,822 pesos was deposited long ago in an AMEX card ending in 3005. My AMEX doesnt end in those numbers & I only use MC with AA to get miles. Then I found their fax number. Printer is broken so I wrote it all out, took it to a mail place that faxes where they tried for a few hours only getting a report that it couldnt go through because the machine is either busy, out of paper or turned off. 🤬

So what I need is the NAME and mailing address of someone at AA who can straighten out this holy mess and fix it. Thank you for reading this far and thanks for any assistance.
Honestly mailing or faxing AA for an issue like this is a waste of time. I would just figure out a way to call the main AA (US) number, yea I know it's a pain with the hold times and call backs and all. Once you speak to them, just tell them you haven't been refunded any miles/$$ for the return portion and ask the agent to check. Something is hung up somewhere, I wouldn't even mention anything about what you found in the app with regards to a refund to an Amex, that could be just some kind of a glitch.

JJeffrey, thank you. One issue is I can’t call an 800 number from here without big charges. Add on wait times I’d be paying stupidly expensive phone bills. I can call a regular US number at no charge up to I think 100 minutes a month so I need to find a stateside non-toll free number. I wonder if there are people working all night? If so, I’ll try calling at 3:00 AM. What a headache but thanks for the advice.

I'm not sure whether AA even has any non-toll-free numbers left in the U.S.
Good luck!

Can you call a friend in the US and ask them to put you through to AA?

Thanks but I dont think that would work, especially with the hold times. This is infuriating and frustrating.

If you want to try dealing with the issue by email, this address was posted just last month in this forum by another FTer:

Use Skype on your phone... It's free. You might need to have a dollar or two in your account but the call will be 100% free of charge.
Also, even if you don't call a 800 number, skype rates are insanely cheap (normally 0,01 or 0,02 per minute).

Hi all! I'm trying to make EP for the first time with a r/t DFW>LHR>CDG in F before the end of February. The schedule that works best is all on BA metal. On the AA website, I can only book this route in J, so I have to book on BA for F. I need 3792 EQDs & 9000 EQMs. I've learned so much from this forum, but am afraid of falling into a loophole of whether or not it is an "eligible flight" for earning what I need. How can I make sure this flight will get what I need? According to milecalc.com the r/t is around 21000 miles and NerdWallet says to take that x .3 to calculate EQDs which is 6300 with booking code A. Can anyone here guide me or should I just fly the schedule I don't want on AA metal and book through them just to make sure? Thank you so much for all of your guidance in the past!

DFW-LHR-CDG is 4,967 mi. each way according to GC Mapper, so 9,934 mi. roundtrip. Not sure what Milecalc is referring to but that's way off.

In any event if you're booking an A fare on BA that earns at .3 EQD, that would be 9,934 x .3 = $2,980 EQD. Almost $800 EQD short.

How much is this fare exactly?

It seems Milecalc is treating DFW-LHR-CDG-LHR-DFW as the base itinerary and then doubling it for RT. Weird.

I would call AA to see if an agent can book this as AA flight numbers if aa.com isnt giving you the option. Booked as AA you should be close to the EQD depending on exactly what the taxes are.

Thanks, I might call them. The flights show up on AA in all categories except F. Of course, it would be a heck of a lot easier to call them if I were EP! lol
