Finding your Admirals Club credentials on the app

Can someone help me navigate how to find my digital card or simple my membership info on the app? Thanks in advance!

Fly'nAAgain Dec 21, 2021 7:17 am

I don't think the app has an Admirals Club card or credentials. The only thing I've been able to do is use my boarding pass to gain entry to a club

econometrics Dec 21, 2021 8:30 am

Yes, they used to have a feature in the app where you could check-in and it would display an entry key. I haven't seen that for a while, though.

In DFW, they are trialing a new facial recognition system for AC entry, too.

Facial recognition?? Great, another variable in an already complicated environment. What has been so hard with scanning a BP that they are wasting time and money on something like that? Would love their tech team to instead work on some of the other hundreds of pain points we have to put up with.

I think they're switching to face ID because it's so easy to screenshot your boarding pass and let other folks enter.

IME most / all ACs request a photo ID in addition to boarding pass, unless you have your photo on file with them.

There is no digital Admirals Club membership info, only a digital AAdvantage Card. Your Admirals Club membership is linked to your AAdvantage number.

From the home page of the app click on the rectangle at the top displaying your name, status and available award miles. Swipe up the arrow ^ at the bottom of the app where it also has links to "Promotions" and "Wallet." At the very bottom, there is a link to "View AAdvantage card."

Maybe it’s just a gap in my memory, but I do not believe AA took my photo when I signed up (purchased in club on a meltdown day so things were crazy). Have scanned my boarding pass ~10 times in the last couple months at various airports, and have never been asked for ID

They must have scanned your photo ID at some point when you showed it, so it is in their system. Mine pops up on the agent's screen automatically as soon as I scan my boarding pass or EXP card.

Shortly after I got the Citi Executive MasterCard, I was asked for permission to have my driver license scanned when I entered the club in order that I won't have to present a photo ID every time that I used the club.

You and TWA884 are correct. Thanks for the memory jog.

I have had zero issues with facial recognition at Port Everglades or International Arrivals at MIA (Global Entry)
Port E was not global entry, but I used the Global Entry kiosk at MIA and it recognized me, without using a card or passport..
So easy, I highly recommend Global Entry

Fly'nAAgain Dec 22, 2021 11:03 am

Facial recognition for DFW club entry is coupled with the Airside app and is independent from the AA app. Facial recognition is ONLY available at DFW clubs; I've used this several times and it works well. I'd be happy for them to roll this feature out to other network clubs.

When I was a DL elite, they used to print all sorts of stuff on your BP: PNR/status level/SkyClub/Reserve card holder. It was a long line of things for some people. Maybe it counted as recognition.

I have been trying to download my AA Advantage membership card from the App on an ipad using the instructions above, but there is no link to "View AAdvantage card." Any advice? Is anyone else having this problem?

Moderators--If this is the wrong place to ask the question, please move.

The app has been updated since I posted that message and the virtual AAdvantage membership card with the barcode no longer displays in the app. You can print a membership card from AA.com or save a screenshot of it.

Thanks TWA884. Your instructions worked on my iphone, but not on my ipad.

I can confirm that the method still works on the iPhone.

I stand corrected. It is there. :o

I swiped up from the home page of the app, not after clicking on the rectangle with my name, elite status and available miles.

It's not the most intuitive or user friendly app.

I agree. Still don''t understand why the app works on my iphone but not on my ipad.

iPad doesn’t have the Apple Wallet app which is what AA’s app uses for boarding passes and for the virtual AAdvantage card.

Thanks! It should have been obvious, but I am still learning my way around my phone.

Because Delta started using facial recognition in clubs a year or two ago.

Credit card access?

I just came into the Alaska lounge in SFO (where I've been before) and I was asked if I wanted to buy a day pass. I didn't know what to say so I explained I'm an Admirals club member. The agent had to call the Admirals club to confirm this. She then asked if I had membership through the credit card (which I do), and said I need to show the physical card (but this time was ok because she had verified me). I couldn't find my membership card on the app. I then read the access policy on aa.com and sure enough:
Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive primary cardmembers and authorized users must show their physical credit card for entry.
Is this part of their recent round of "enhancements" to the card? I've never been asked before so curious if others have seen this at Admirals clubs or other partner lounge locations. I went into an Admirals club last week so was quite surprised!

Does an apple wallet version of the card count? I don't generally carry this physical card with me these days, so wondering if I need to start!

dw Aug 13, 2023 7:21 pm

For partner lounges, you have to being your Citi Exec card. Even though cardholders are supposed to have AC memberships, no AC card is available for cardholders.

I have had the Citi Executive card for almost 10 years. Since Citi Executive cardholders do not have a digital Admirals Club membership card, I have always had to show the physical card in order to enter an Alaska Lounge. BTW, authorized users do not have access to partner lounges unless they are guests of the primary cardholder.

From the Admirals Club® locations - Partner lounges information:

Alaska Lounge1

1Must present your physical or digital membership card and boarding pass at lounge check-in counter for same-day departure on an American Airlines or Alaska Airlines marketed and operated flight (flight sold with American or Alaska flight number and flown on American or Alaska aircraft).

i have been a club member for probably more than 10 years and never ever, not once got asked for ID. has anyone actually been asked for ID?

i was offered to do the club entry via camera thing, and apparently there is some tie in with the TSA where you can use your photo for entry through security, ie without having to show id. but apparently it was still in beta and would only work 1 time. ie any transits through security after your next one still required id.

Memeber since 2002, and you used to have show ID every time.

I think most people had their ID's scanned in when they enrolled or when the ability to store it rolled out years ago. I haven't been asked since they scanned mine mid 2010's, but I do still hear people asked randomly for it after the agent sees their account, so it must still be a requirement for those that haven't been verified one way or another.
