EXP upgrade AA metal B6 code?

This AA B6 partnership is relatively new so couldn't find a thread on it. Found a fare less than half the price with a B6 code on AA metal than the actual AA code. Am I still eligible for complimentary upgrade on this if I book it on the B6 code?

Don't know the official rules. But as PltPro booked AA operated flight as B6 flight number code share from B6. Reason is same as OP, fare was almost half of what AA was offering on the same flight. I see my reservation both on AA.com and the AA app on my cell phone and can choose seats as an elite, but both does not show complimentary upgrade option.

Since it's a B6 codeshare, you'll get the other benefits like baggage allowances, elite mileage earning and priority checkin. But upgrades are not among the beenfits.

Upgrades are not official or automatic for codeshares on AA metal, but can sometimes be requested at the airport on the day of travel.

That restriction when flying AA metal under a B6 code is not cited anywhere on the linked page, which refers to benefits when flying on B6 metal.

From AlwaysAisle's report though sounds like the B6 code is an impediment to automatic upgrade.

This. Done it on both QR and BA, 6 times in all. AC/FL are very helpful. Never tried it on a domestic flight, though.

The impediment may be by design. The page does actually stipulate the benefits when flying B6 metal, or B6 codeshare on AA metal:
To earn AAdvantage® miles when you fly on JetBlue marketed and operated flights as well as JetBlue codeshare flights operated by American Airlines:

And the 500-mile elite upgrades are stipulated the same on the relevant page:
https://www.aa.com/i18n/aadvantage-p...e-upgrades.jsp
AAdvantage® elite status members can upgrade from any eligible purchased, published fare in the Main Cabin or Premium Economy to the next class of service (Business or domestic First) for travel within North America on eligible American Airlines marketed and operated flights

That being said - if you ask at the gate and they grant it, then that's great. Has anyone tried to call in and get their upgrade request submitted when flying on a codeshare flight operated by AA? My guess is that the answer will be no, in line with the policy as stated above.

Applied a SWU on a BA/QR stock ticket?

Now wouldn't that be awesome? LOL... earn based on distance AND get to use SWUs. I've searched far and wide for ways to get AA special fares to achieve this, but can only find ways to get special fares when originating in North America, but not when originating overseas.

Yes. IIRC this was in 2013-2014. Now that I think about it, it was J to F in all cases.

Found my own post from 2014:

Gotcha. I've managed it 2 times, largely by accident. All Y to J.

Platinum upgrade AA metal B6 code share

Good day,

Does anyone have any recent experience with this? Just booked 2 seats AA Elite same PNR on JetBlue codeshare AA metal roundtrip. It was $130.00 per ticket less on B6 than AA? I could choose the seats but called reservations to see if we were automatically put on upgrade lists and was told they can’t. I also inquired if they could match the codeshare B6 fare said they could not.
Any experience or thoughts? Also a Admirals Club member.

It sounds like from above experiences, you can ask at the airport but no guarantee they would put you on the list. I don't think your club membership will matter, other than you would get a more experienced agent at the counter there.
