7-6's, 7-5's and mad dogs

AA has let them all go to the bone yard yet DL and UA in some capacity or another continues to fly all three. By this token AA should be saving money by retiring these gas guzzlers but are/have they really?

AA mistreated their 767s. DL, UA, JL etc all still have fleets that are reliable and in top shape. AA's 767s went mechanical constantly, had cabins reminiscent of Air India and were an embarrassing, unloved orphan fleet.

The 737Max is much more fuel efficient, it just had a propensity to fall out of the sky and kill everyone onboard every once in a while.

Some of the 757s were pm-US duct tape specials.

very interesting how we think that certain airframes are junkers, but highly dependent on the airline. 767 on D1 is great, on AA felt like staying at a 5-star "historic" railroad hotel and all the things that come with that. A321 on BA = fine but packed like sardines. A321T...what a plane.

757 would be a great option to bring back for more lie-flat transcons, or a similar replacement. I'll take the zodiac seat over the Oasis/Kodiak seat. Thinking PHL and CLT to anything PHX and beyond. pipe dream, but a dream.

It really is interesting. The 767 and 757 are fine aircraft, just not in the hands of AA.

Just flew Austrian air vie/iad in bus. on a 767. They refurbished them a few yeats back and I found it to be very comfortable.

The only way I can get to my Christmas plans is two connecting Max flights.

Trying not to think about it. Much.

Not sure I'd consider the DL 717's to be "mad dogs" (DL has retired their MD-88/90 fleets). Sure, they were originally going to be MD-95's (until Boeing bought MD), but they are of a very different generation from what AA was operating.

You'll be fine. It's been plenty scrutinized and tested since the initial fiasco

MD-80s? AS retired them all by 2008. I will say DL does a better job maintaining the fleet; I was on some pretty beat AA 763s and 772s in Y in the mid-2010s. They seem to be doing a better job now.
