Exactly. Flat tire on a 777 with 6 wheels per main is essentially a non-event.

Just curious but why all of this?
  • Israel Air Force planes were dispatched to accompany the airliner
  • 59 Magen David Adom ambulances waiting on the tarmac as the plane touched down in case the landing was not successful
  • the Israel Airports Authority ordered that the runway be sprayed with a special coolant that reduces friction

It seems no one had much else to do that day.

No, captain did not check the tire before takeoff. They must have check tire and he have make sure everything is good. If the tire is not flat and if you see tire is flat. They must report it to maintenance right away. They will change the tire immediately. It's very important. They must have be responsible for checking the tire.

I didn't realise you conducted your own investigation here and already assigned blame based on no actual knowledge of what happened or when the tyre deflated

Clearly a quiet day in Israel - I thought that it sounded OTT - the tyre must have burst on take-off and that would have put the runway out of action whilst they cleared the debris. It sounds like an incredible fuss to me having been through the same albeit that it had burst on landing. We went to the gate and the tyre was changed.
