I have an in app offer for the DFW>LHR of $580 to upgrade to J.

There are still 37 of 52 J seats available. I plan on buying the upgrade, but it’s there a chance that price will drop? I’m willing to gamble and wait if there is a chance.
$580 is an amazing deal. Don't count on it getting any lower.

Just booked DCA-JAX and got an offer in the app for $205 one-way upgrade. This is more than I could have paid for F when I bought the ticket. Really???

Not sure if it’s been discussed but once I accepted the upgrade offer to PE on one of my four legs the other offers have disappeared. Almost like they only expect you to purchase at one point in time.

$205 seems to be the standard short haul offering at the moment. Either people are going for it (most people don’t care about LPs etc.) or the logic needs to be recalibrated.

Yes. This is a well known thing. I’ve had itineraries with say 4 flights all with insane offers. Then I go to 3 insane offers and 1 reasonable one that I take with the expectation I’ll wait and see what happens with the other ones. But they all disappear and never come back.

Anyone have any recent data points on what the in-app offers typically are on the DFW-HNL-DFW route?

Want to see if someone can clarify. If I cancel a flight that I used an upgrade offer in the app, I can request a separate refund to get that upgrade back? Thanks.

I got a similar quote for a 2-segment trip of similar length.

Even when an upgrade on part of the trip cleared, the quote was still the same price.

Do you mean what you paid or apply to another flight. Upgrade offers are very individual so I doubt you could do the latter.

I'm seeing a lot of $205 lately on flights of less than 3 hours were there wouldn't be huge amounts of outright paid F. Whether you think $205 is worth a 2 hour flight is subjective.

Yes, I agree. I recently purchased an LAX-PHX itinerary. The app upgrade was $205. Not such a great deal when the delta to purchase F at booking was $74.

This is what I don't understand. Why on earth would you pay $205 immediately after booking when you declined $74 at booking (with the additional RDMs and LPs). Then I remember that it's AA IT and it all makes sense.

I did neither. I often get upgraded on the route as an AS MVPG100K. The additional EQM/RDM earning in Mileage Plan didn't justify the $74 F delta on such a short flight. MCE at booking is perfectly fine if an upgrade doesn't happen. An upgrade looked promising but I ultimately canceled the flight.

In January, I flew A321T JFK-LAX in paid J (cheap on a per segment basis) and the upgrade to F was $750 for the longest time. It eventually dropped to $350. Not worth it to me at any dollars especially when it wouldn't earn anything more in Mileage Plan and F is so abysmal on 3, 4 cabin aircraft. It was still more than the cost of the segment.

If I cancel the flight. I should be refunded the ticket amount. But I'm pretty sure I've seen in the past that you can then go back an specifically request a refund for the money spent on the upgrade. It's just that you have to do them separately.
