Opened the AA app today to see my JFK - LAX flight in August had gone from a $700 upgrade offer down to $350 which I am happy to pay for a 6hr flight to move to First, so I went through the steps and at the final hurdle the app gave me an error message while processing my CC. I can see the pending charge on my account (so my Bank didn’t decline the payment) so it seems AA’s systems just fell over. Problem is all the upgrade offers have now disappeared and the Twitter team are offering me a great $1,500 price to upgrade the whole ticket to F 🙄
Any ideas on how to get AA to honour their offer (I’ll pay the $350) when it was their system that fell over processing my acceptance?

You could pay the $1500 and then file a lawsuit to get it back yet keep the seat.
But is it worth that? And probably some AA terms of carriage exempt it from decency, sense and the law.

I have a flight from JFK-SNA this Saturday in Y on the A321T. I have not gotten any buy up offers even though the flight is showing 6 seats open in J and 7 seats open in F. Will AA revenue management fly with open seats in F and J without selling them? Would be interested in paying a reasonable amount before the seats are given away to free upgrades.

If AA were a normal business, it would be subject to common law, and the following would apply both in the UK and the US: it made an offer to sell you a FC seat for $350; then you accepted the offer by paying $350; and thus AA would have to give you a FC seat.
You could pay the $1500 and then file a lawsuit to get it back yet keep the seat.

Not going to pay $1,500 or sue them - but just curious if any dept. is worth talking too? Twitter team say it was any online offer they can’t replicate / but just annoyed AA’s system fell over during the CC process and I am now stuck with no upgrade and no more offers on the app!

As a practical matter, I'm pretty sure there's unfortunately nothing you can really do other than refresh the app and hope the offer comes back. My guess is that after 24 hours the system will recognize that the upgrade didn't go through and will give you the current offer (whatever that may be).

Just for closure, chatted to a few very helpful AA agents today who ultimately passed me across to the AA.com team who also run the app. They could see their system fell over while processing the upgrade and honoured the offer on the phone for me. Great service from all the agents I spoke with today and they wrapped up the call with a very satisfied customer.

yea… the EXP agent I spoke with on Saturday indicated that she could help with anything other than confirming me a seat at $2500/person to be on a next day flight in main cabin. It was a hard pass!
Options of just purchasing OW tickets for next day in First started at $1700. We ended up just leaving as planned as the board of canceled/delayed flights was already on the forecasted horizon.

buy-up upgrade pricing fluctuation
What causes buy-ups upgrade to fluctuate so much within a 24 hour period? This morning the prices jump from low $900 to then $1300 to now $1700 but yesterday it was around $1600 all day. Does the system look at how many times your refresh the app which then increases price based on activity? just very frustrating..

Yesterday I booked OAX-DFW-GRU-SDU for only $256 all-in in main cabin. The last leg is operated by GOL. I'm getting an upgrade offer on the app for the DFW-GRU segment. $375 for PE and $728 for J. For the return, I got GIG-MIA-PHL-LAS in main cabin for $385. I put in a miles plus copay upgrade request for the return. It did not clear immediately, but the supervisor that was assisting me on the phone said that the loads looked good and it should clear before too long. I've never tried an international one, so I have no idea. Therefore, I'm just thinking about the flight from DFW to GRU. I'm wondering if $728 is a good deal and I should bite now, or if I should wait for it the offer to go down. Can't believe I got that fight so cheap. I was originally planning on going to another place in Mexico for that part of the vacation, but I happened to see that ridiculously cheap price to Rio on Google flights. I may just tough it out MCE knowing that I got such a great deal. I'm PPro.

I never get these offers.
maybe because they are booked through a corporate travel agent? I can’t change ticket online either, get a message to call my travel agent.
Also, don’t see it for my wife’s, booked directly on AA.com. It’s for late October, is it too soon?

Upgrade your Flight - Dynamic Pricing?
I have a flight booked CLT-LAS in the middle of August. I'm PltPro and fine sitting in MCE if I don't clear an upgrade. Every time I check my itinerary, I get the "Upgrade Your Flight for as little as..." banner and I've begun to click through to see what the per segment costs are at any given time. Well, with no change in availability in the front cabin, the costs have varied wildly. For the direct outgoing segment, the cost started in $230 range and in the course of a week I've seen as high at $465 (around $430 now) with no change in first class seats available (as confirmed through ExpertFlyer each time - 45% available). How is this pricing determined? Has anyone tested if prices are consistent from passenger to passenger? Are they pricing them in relation to a virtual upgrade list at any given time (the lower you'd be on the upgrade list if it were published today, the higher the price of the upgrade) or are the revenue management guys just throwing darts at a board every 30 minutes?
I'm not angry about it or anything.. just curious.
