AA LAX-SAN shuttle?
Any chance that AA might ever bring this back? Especially with JetBlue/AS in the mix to help with transcons, this makes for better connections. And west coast-SAN destinations on AA. Although I guess the idea was that these connections are no longer necessary, and that the market for flying this route end to end is pretty small.

I doubt there’s much O&D traffic, but it was great for connections, and every time I’ve taken this flight and considered how convenient it was compared to the drive up/down the 5 instead, I appreciated it even more.

I'm assuming once Trans Pacific traffic returns, particularly business travel. Right now AA can utilize DFW and PHX for domestic and presumably maybe Alaska can handle traffic to places like SFO and SEA.

Of course, this is with well padded connecting time.
I also appreciated the lounges as EXP and the long flight to Europe or South America (LATAM) that allows for 6+ hours of sleep on a flat bed.
SAN LAX will come back.

United and Delta still operate the route, albeit at a much reduced capacity. UA being 2x daily and DL just once a day.
I’m hoping that once long haul comes back, AA will revive the route. With SAN-LHR being culled monthly, I’ve been driving up to LAX to take the direct LAX-LHR flight, but I’m usually in no fit state to drive back down to SAN on the return journey.

Honestly this service was most useful when it was run every 30-40 minutes with Saab 340s. Ever since then, AA hasn't had great schedules on this route.

Those Saabs were the best! It took a little longer, but I was usually asleep from the hum of the props before we ever took off. Not to mention using the now defunct commuter terminal was much easier than the main terminal.

yeah. I miss the commuter terminal too. No AC, but there never was a need to ever get there early to make use of a club even if there was one.

Agreed. I used to use it often to connect to the 777 LAX-MIA flight. It was pretty easy to roll up 30-40 minutes before departure and just walk straight though security and out to the plane.
