One can hope it helps accelerate AA's opening of FL/FFD but I am skeptical.

that may be accurate but many flights start at ord before being shipping off to dfw, Mia, or jfk for international travel with most layovers not long enough to use the lounge. It’s poor form and everyone knows it.

The LAX Flagship area is open right now and accessible if you have admission to the Admirals Club. However, the expected amenities of a Flagship Lounge are not currently being provided. Once you learn to lower your expectations for the food and drink being offered, it can be a pleasant visit. You can find remote areas to get away from people, and the bathrooms are the cleanest / most private you'll find in Terminal 4.

American will continue to be subpar if they get enough butts in seats. Less amenities will continue to be the norm unless people start flooding the competition in key cities. AA could continue to see a big drop in ORD if they don't step it up. I don't know why they'd want to concede any premium marketshare to United at this point, even if they are behind some. Seems strange the tactics they're employing right now just to save a few bucks.

Admitted to MIA FFD after arrival from LAX
Ultimately it worked out. Plane was a bit late and I got there at 9:15 pm. AAgents consulted among themselves as to when FFD closed (they were told 10:00, even though officially it’s 10:30). Escorted to FFD and was the only customer for the hour-plus I was there, letting my checked bag gather dust on the carousel. Fine food and liquor as you’d expect. My appetite was modest after feasting on the plane (including ice cream sundaes once again). Had a couple of nicely cooked fish dishes. They were out of all but one red wine…..
