Per AwardWallet: "If you win one of the 40 grand prizes, you'll be on the hook for paying taxes on $22,400 of income...you'll have to pay tax on $89.60 of income if you win one of the 35,000 giveaways of 4,000 AAdvantage miles."
That's a pretty poor valuation given that Bask Bank values miles earned from their savings account at 0.42 cents/mile for tax purposes... AA values their own miles at 2.24 cents each. To be fair, I think Bask's valuation is low and AA's is high, but they probably have different motivations. I'm somewhat amazed that Bask's tax lawyers signed off on that.

I actually thought people posting they have won 40 points was a joke. Honestly. I then looked for myself.

Seriously AA? It's probably some new marketing head they hired and she/he came up with this wonderful promotional idea to entice flyers to fly more.

Fail.

Perhaps this was all hatched over drinks with Dougie.

I really question this since the normal threshold for sending 1099s on winnings of this type is $600 or greater.

Farcical that they value a mile at 2.4c when they've previously told investors they're worth 1c

It's very much in the vein of Starbucks games that they do a few times a year, in fact I'd go so far as to say they're using the same marketing company/UI software as Starbucks use.

Up to 11 Spins... no offers. This is almost better than Starbuck play-to-win games! (where is that sarcasm tag...)

I just played today, hut NYC, and won 40 advantage miles. With an email arriving immediately after confirming the miles.

Still haven't received any confirmations on the earlier FTD and Preferred Seat Upgrade wins yet though.

I actually laughed out-loud when my winning email said it would take 8-10 weeks after promotion end to credit my account 400 miles.

Ugh- same here. Maybe I'm entering at the wrong time of day!
