Daily Deals starting 4 Jan 2021: Two amazing weeks
 

Dear folks,

While I headed to AA.com today, I've noticed a spoiler that there would be special daily deals for two weeks starting from 4 Jan 2021. Does anyone have any idea how would these deals look like or did AA did something similar in the past?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess AA's definition of "Amazing" will be different than the average Flyertalker's definition. But who knows, maybe they'll surprise us.

Hopefully they'll gift me AAnother 100 miles!!!

My bet is also something like 25% extra miles or a 15% coupon on your next flight.
I am not expecting something like what AS did, which was 30% off on all flights to everyone and 40% off on all flights to targeted members; which was indeed a perfect deal.

I hope the offer is not something like: buy your ticket today, get 50% off an Admirals Club day pass or get 30% off Main Cabin Extra seating.

Hoping for some good international business class deals. I haven't seen much so far to make me want to tie up my money and the hassle of rebooking etc should the trip not be viable.

I suspect the AAmazing deal is a 10% off coupon. Flights I have been watching went from $439 to $480 almost across the board.

Would like to be surprised, but that's my guess!

I suspect you're on to something here. I just checked and a bunch of flights seem to be right around that ratio higher now than they were a couple days ago.

That's almost certainly the taxes that kicked back in on Jan 1st.

Yup. The cheapo fare I've been watching went from $73 to $88.

They have. There have been bullsh "12 days of Christmas" or "25 years of AAdvantage, 25 days of deals" type promotions over the years. All offerings thoroughly de minimis.

Keep hoping. There may be some good international biz class fare sales in the days and weeks to come but they won't be due to some silly AA.com promotion.

Credit to alphaeagle, I didn't know the CARES act suspended the 7.5% Federal Excise Tax on air travel for 2020. Unless a new bill is passed, this tax is now due in 2021.

The CARES act also suspended the $38.90 International Departure Tax. This is why all the international flights went up $40.
