  • As of now, the default Flight Availability and Award & Upgrade search will show the "upgrade" version of A/C
  • We are going to make a change so the Flight Availability search shows the paid version of A/C by default, however for now the workaround to see it is to change the POS to non-USA or to use the Don't Show Interline Connections options which uses a different system and will show the paid inventory A/C classes. When we make the default change we'll post here again, likely sometime in November as it will take a bit of programing.
  • Flight Alerts for A or C will always be for the upgrade inventory version as those classes are marked as Award/Upgrade classes internally.

Besides upgrade scanning, EF inventory alerts for both sold our flights and SDC are a super valuable use case.

If I wanted to SDC after an upgrade cleared to a flight with sold out J cabin I could often set a J alert on my desired flight and SDC as soon as it was J > 0. Who knows if I would have even cleared on the new flight if I was originally booked on it. Well worth the subscription!

UA had to go to two letter booking classes for upgrades, but perhaps this is beyond AAs IT capabilities.

Although EF canít search for those UA upgrade classes anyways.

Both good uses. Some others:

Award availability alerts

Seat alerts (useful if one has a lousy seat assignment)

Fare information (check fare rules/pricing, including historical fares)

Confirming that EF is indeed mapping to AA.com availability for "C-upg" space. GREAT NEWS! Unfortunately, EF availability doesn't display correct results on connections when one or more segments have availability and one or more doesn't--in that case, EF shows zero availability on both segments even though one or more does have the inventory. Hopefully EF will fix that and pull the segs individually and show true availability for each.

The A class thing had to end, I've been flying cheap D class AA revenue tickets and upgrading to F for a few years. It's not a great product but we could frequently find A5 on LAX-HKG and LHR-LAX and put the entire family up there.

For those with broader knowledge, EF has much broader use.

the hard difference is pretty significant on the A-321, especially if you are concerned about social distancing

It's saved my bacon countless times during IROPS to stay in J/F when AA was otherwise uncooperative and to find proper routings.

I use it plenty for finding flight details and information. Sometimes, it's useful to find out if it's better to switch flights to Y close-in and know if your upgrade's immediately going to clear immediately instead of changing to another F flight (for many times lots more money). That's saved me plenty.

And the list goes on...

oh? Seat maps? Yay. SDC? Nope. E bucket isnít always used.

C space availability for SWU redemption was the only worthwhile major feature.

AA Upgrades are still available on EF

Is there a fix coming for the EF glitch on connections, in which EF displays all segments as 0, despite space actually being available on 1 or more segments of the journey?

A little quick on the draw there, eh enviroian? Sure sounds like, despite some changes on the back end, EF remains as useful for finding upgrade inventory as before.

Exactly.

AA has been attempting to get better at segmenting its passengers (and even its fare classes) now for many years.

As has become the norm here lately, the minute thereís a change, some members seem to overreact without waiting for the whole story.

EF announced in fairly short order that theyíre working on differentiating between the paid and upgrade inventory. Iím confused about many here seem to have immediately hit the panic button.

Other airlines, DL included, are much more of a black box than AA when it comes to the information that is made publicly available to sources like EF.
