American Airlines Employees doing Bad

This guy thinks the mask rule does not apply to him.

The flight attendant told him to put a mask on.
He grumbled and put it on.
FA turns to leave and it came right back off.
Completely selfish.
All before takeoff!

NOTE: This is NOT an American Airlines employee. I have asked the moderators to adjust the thread title.

<redacted> pilot does not think the mask rule applies to him.

Perfect- just what FL needs with their current surge in cases.

And what a wonderful example to show the flying public its all good to return to the air.

Then again, he's a pilot; it's the FA who are 'primarily here for your safety' :D

seigex Jul 14, 20 11:02 am

Wait, if the pilot's there, who's flying the plane??

Jokes aside, is there any proof it's an AA pilot and not a deadhead pilot from another airline?

enviroian Jul 14, 20 11:06 am

What are the chances this picture will get this pilot in trouble?

johnru36 Jul 14, 20 11:21 am

Well, from the photo we know he's sitting in 19D (row identifier is visible). Someone not looking at this on a phone can probably zoom in on his ID lanyard strap to see if that has airline info on it (AA or other airline)

Too blurry, and the lanyard doesn't say American Airlines on it. What is the relevance of him sitting in row 19D?

johnru36 Jul 14, 20 11:28 am

Only relevance is it would enable airline to ID the passenger in question - not that i expect them to pursue it (despite's AA's Covid assurance "The safety and well-being of our customers and team members remains our highest priority.")

That is not an AAL pilot uniform. The stripes are the wrong color.

I'm not sure of his employer. I can't think of any airlines that use stripes that bright. Could be a cargo pilot or corporate pilot on a ticket (cargo, corporate, and fractional companies frequently by tickets to move their pilots to and from their airplanes). Could be a regional airline who's uniform I'm not familiar with.

In any case, it is not an AAL pilot.

SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THIS PHOTO GO VIRAL!

The folks flying the plane evidently didn't want this selfish (insert descriptor here _____________________) with them in the cockpit, and Captain?I am a God/Captain?Selfish/Captain?Wonderful's upgrade didn't clear. What better reason to disobey the rules?

I hope whoever Captain?Wonderful gets FIRED and I hope his UNION will be unable to protect his selfish, uncaring, ... .

YMMV

Yeah, I'm all for mandatory mask wearing on flights, and pretty much anywhere in public.

But I don't think that's an AA pilot, and regardless, I don't see how public shaming of employees is a good thing for this board to be doing.

A friend at AAL just confirmed for me that the passenger in that seat was a revenue passenger. Not an employee. Not a non-rev.

Respectfully disagree about public shaming. Respectfully agree about this board.

This game went on throughout the flight... FA kept telling him to put the mask on. He grumbles under his breath. He does. FA walks away. He takes it off.

The vast majority of us are trying to do our best to stay safe. And this guy thinks it's okay to risk everyone'es health because... well, who knows why.

I will post more photos in a little bit.

As this is not an AA employee, we will close this thread and invite general discussion of AA's mask policy within the existing thread. Thanks. /Moderator
