Can non-status travel companion sit in MCE w/ seperate PNR?

I am platinum. DW no status
need to buy some award tickets, and wills take points from
respective accounts

Since we are separate PNR's, can AA link the reservations
so we can sit together in MCE?

THANKS

If a return trip, book the outbound (2 seats) with ff miles from 1 account (one way) and the inbound (2seats) with ff miles from the other account(one way). Your plat status will apply to both

Same trip as this? ---> Booking IB awards on BA website

I was EXP when I did this, but it WAS never an issue. As long as both PNR's are for the same cabin (no upgrades.) I assume this works for all PLT as well. (Of course, they were revenue tickets, so perhaps a difference there.)

No problem - just make the reservations from whoever’s account you wish and call to have the seats assigned.

It doesn't matter if they are from separate accounts you will be able to sit together in MCE
YMMV on getting the same baggage allowance. That issue is resolved if you book together using one person's miles for each direction

The IB is a continuation AA to MAD IB to Middle East

We don't have equal amounts of miles in the accounts, causing the original question

Thanks, wasn't thinking baggage allowance yet. Will consider

Put the flights in hold with your respective accounts and call to book and be put on the same booking.

That will not work. Merging passenger records wont occur and , even if it could, payment for the booking has to come from 1 account

If booking a r/t journey, then suggestion in post 2 is the way to go

I always do this. Wife ticket with miles. Mine paid for. I do her ticket first, then immediately do mine. As soon as I finish with mine, I call and move her to sit next to me. It does have to be done with a call, cannot be done on the web. Since I get the 2 free bags, I just check both bags under me.

Oh good to know. I thought I recalled having done that in the past, but probably remembered incorrectly.

Seat yourself in MCE and then call and ask that the other person be seated with you. It's never a problem.

I also wondered about "DW". Hopefully the OP can clarify.

I seem to recall some posters using DW and DH for Dear Wife and Dear Husband
