just one personal datapoint but 1 week ago, my BOS-PHX flight showed as J1 right before departure with 1C and 1E showing as blocked on EF with one unassigned seat. I was pleasantly surprised to be the 3rd/last cleared upgrade out of 5.

I'm just curious how someone that hasn't flown AA in several years is going to access the AC. Are they selling day passes? Maybe prior lifetime member?

This is actually not completely accurate. The A320s and A319s are 36" but the A220s and A321s are 37".

They're great for Y and Y+ pax. I'm personally not a fan of the seat DL used in F on them though. It just seems unnecessarily cramped.

not on my flight

Flying to PHX on Thursday. ALL Row 1 seats are full including mine, 1D. Empty seats in Row 2. Maybe they are not filling those, sure! LOL

No blocking in F on my July 7 DFW-EGE flight, or probably in Y for that matter.

DFW MIA

No blocked seats in a 777 and was full. Great service from the FAs as well. Drinks were available and happily refilled.

As United person, AA service and schedules are much better in this time.

My bad relying on SeatGuru for the 321s. You're right, I did not take into account the 220s.

Depends on the equipment. My understanding is it depends on whether the FAs would otherwise need to sit next to each other in jump seats. For example, IME they block (at least initially; I think it's up to the FAs whether they want to release them) the bulkhead starboard row on 738s, but not on Airbus equipment. Most of my flights on 738s have still ended up with pax in the window seat.

The A220's are also 36"; which is why a lot of people have preferred C+ than F on them.

I don't doubt it, DL's website lists them as 37 but they feel very tight, IMO even more so than the A320.

Apparently it doesn't matter to customers as they are booking the seats

Relatedly, any experiences with being bumped out of Row 1/Row 3 for blocking at check-in or time of departure?

I have had 3E and 3F (first row) on a 738 booked for months but now with F showing full, am worried we may be bumped and downgraded.

My July 14 DFW-EGE is also full in F and about 3/4 full in Y.
