I wasn't aware of these. I guess these are given out in coach on international or something?

Evidently each bag has "yogurt, granola and a fig bar" (non-Apple news link)

There's a picture in the link provided in the first post, and as others speculated, it appears that they are handed out to economy passengers on long haul flights. I'm assuming that they had already ordered (and possibly paid for) these through their inflight vendor, so they are donating them rather than they go to waste.

Possibly they have a shortish remaining expiry date so yes best donate them than have to toss them.

Gotta build up some public goodwill to secure that next round of bailout cash.

Maybe but this was more about getting rid of some yogurt before it spoiled.

They've tapped the Strategic Bistro Bag Reserve. Trying times.

Are these pre-arrival meals for eastbound TATL flights?

wetrat0 Apr 3, 2020 11:21 am

Yes, these are pre-arrival meals for TATL flights. Being catered in Chicago these would be for eastbound (breakfast) but I believe I got something similar on westbound economy for a pre-arrival meal. I believe it was seen as a "downgrade" when they introduced these, I guess because it was served in a bag rather than on a tray. However, I found the yogurt and granola bars to be at least as high-quality, food-wise, as what they were serving before, despite the cheaper presentation.
