Sad. I quite liked the 763, especially the new-build ones from 2003 that had the Boeing Signature Interior. Great ride in Y with the "old fashioned" seating that had plenty of back support in comparison to today's slimline seating. I wish AA had refurbished them entirely like UA/DL had done. I wonder what will happen to the batch from 2003? I know one of them was written off from the fire at ORD a couple of years ago.
I know some have posted about the lack of PTVs, but at the time, AA had intended to install PTVs in Y on the 763s, hence the new build 763s came factory delivered with IFE equipment (underseat boxes and remote controls) installed.
I have heard that all seasonal CLT European routes will shift to a 787-8. LHR will likely shift to a 772, and I have heard FRA might as well.

A332 will stay. The rumour is about the NINE A333 which AA extended the retirement once few years ago. I would like to guess CLT may continue to have A332, while B788 will be heading to PHL. At some times in future CLT may see B788 or B772, but only on LHR route (I am guessing here).

Sadly not happening. All 767 are now off the schedule. Last one ferried to Roswell today.

Glad I planned a few trips last year around the 76 and a few on the 75. I’ll miss them.

Afterwards management did an about face on that deciding to keep the US 330’s instead, and started drawing them down. Now the 333 and 767 will be gone, and the 332’s I bet will be withdrawn too, when all the Dreamliners arrive if they aren’t deferred due to lack of routes to fly.
767’s are headed for freighter conversion. Used 767’s are (hopefully still) highly desired.

It had been years since I was on a 757, very glad I had one back in February. My last 767 was a little over a year ago.

AA to retire 76 older 737-800, 9 A330-300, 20 E190 aircraft
American Airlines to Retire Older Boeing 737 Jets
Business Traveler, Kurt Stolz, 31 March 2020
American Airlines said it plans to retire some 76 Boeing 737 Next Generation jets as well as nine Airbus A330-300s wide-body airliners and 20 Embraer 190 regional jets. The world's largest airline currently has 304 737-800s in its fleet...
The move was announced in an online town hall meeting with the company’s employees on Sunday by its president, Robert Isom. Isom said that the airline expects to begin receiving new 737 Max jets later in the year and that these would be used to replace older 737 Next Generation aircraft in need of heavy maintenance.
The airline previously said it would accelerate the retirement of its 31 Boeing 757-200s and two remaining 767-300ER wide-body airliners.

The 767 played a significant role in my airport career; worked hundreds of flights and have basically seen every corner (except the avionics compartment) of 58 aircraft...even had a flight deck-key.
Thanks for the memories!

Depends on how much cycle they have left until the next C or D check. I think AA would rather hold on to them and delay the 789. Oil is less than $30 a barrel and there is no debt service cost on the fully paid for and depreciated 772. They all have new business class seats which were installed at the last major check. So my guess is they have quite a ways to go before another major check.
