This happen to me as well when I cancelled online and requested a refund. I had to call to get them to post the miles back.

My miles posted within hours of cancelling earlier this week. Still waiting on taxes. I think they MIGHT have said a week or so (am not yet worried) and I am watching my card.

Just curious - were your flights all on AA metal? The current aa.com guidance requires calling in for awards that include partner flights (as well as multiple passengers) but wondering if I should expect to HUCA to avoid the reinstatement fee.

They were all AA metal... had to call because of the first bullet item - it was two passengers (and only one of them match the name of the account owner!)

After 3+ weeks my miles hadn't been redeposited for a cancelled flight so I called (again) and they were able to do it while I was on the phone with them.

The AA redeposit protocol is more of a minefield if you don't (and I didn't) read the fine print. We booked two tickets with miles for summer travel to an event now cancelled. I skimmed the conditions and figured it was safe to cancel online. Not so. The details were in the fine print, which I missed. The free redeposit only applies if there is one person on the reservation - there were two of us. Secondly, the reservation had to be made on the US website. Although all our travel was within the US (no Canadian component) the reservation was technically made on the Canadian AA website, so is ineligible (or so the one AAgent I've spoken to so far politely explained). I'm hoping to resolve this at least partially with a follow-up call, but with long wait times I'm going to leave it for awhile. At best I'm on-the-hook for one redeposit fee; at worst we're stuck with uncommitted redemptions that must be used for a similar itinerary, which at this point is very unlikely.

Input from anyone with a similar experience - especially if resolved - would be much appreciated.

i asked the twitter team to cancel my summer tickets (booked for four pax) last night- miles were in my account immediately and no fees were charged. Id suggest reaching out to them to see if they can help.

Has anyone had experience canceling AAdvantage tickets on partners (specifically AS)? Is the same flexibility there?

I should have clarified - my tickets were partner awards, on CX.

Booked tix for my family of 4 on May 1 for travel in Dec. I booked through Chase UR portal.

First question, how many free changes do I get? Current waiver page looks like I only get 1.

Second, can I cancel this itinerary and rebook same dates now that fares are cheaper? We'd all net an eVoucher for the difference.

Thanks.

Could someone clarify, if I buy a ticket now I could change it after May 31? Looking to take advantage of some of the low fares and reschedule after I take my first leg when the window opens for June 2021

you still have to pay the fare difference I believe if the new flight is more expensive. Its only the change fee thats waived ( or that was our case anyway)

After you take the first leg your trip is priced on day of purchase. But thanks for confirming
