Question about code-share flight check-in

I purchased a ticket on the American Airlines website, where I am a member, for a flight from Hong Kong HKG to Tokyo NRT. The flight is listed as American Airlines flight AA8418, but it is operated by JAL and is listed by JAL as flight JL62.

I have checked in online and have an electronic boarding pass. The flight is tomorrow morning. My question is -- Where do I physically check in at the airport tomorrow? Do I check in at the American Airlines counter or at the Japan Airlines counter?

(Have not been able to get through to either airline's call center due to heavy call volume)

What I have turned up on Google is the general statement that one usually checks in for the operating carrier, which in this case would be JAL. Wanted to confirm with more knowledgeable frequent travelers here.Thank you in advance. I apologize if this has already been asked and answered a dozen times.

Yes. The operating carrier.

I have taken that flight many times. Since i already have a BP, and if you don’t have luggage, u can head for the gate. But stop at the gate as they have to verify docs.
