This is all good and dandy, but fact remains that Hyatt simply does not have the coverage that Hilton and Choice have. Frankly, in every city in America I can find one of these two - likely multiple - hotels. Hyatt, I am lucky if I find one that is close and convenient.

Yet another reason to move on
I moved to Delta as of the beginning of the year, via a Medallion Challenge, and so far so good. Looks like AA is trying to push out the mid level business traveler once again.....

Exactly. I tried to book Hyatt Grand Kuala Lumpur. Even though as an EP, I signed up for the short Hyatt status period, there was zero value for me to book it.The Hyatt rep was less than impressed with this partnership. And I got exactly the same deal if I would have booked the Hyatt on Hotels.com. So, I booked the Hilton. I’ve never found any value with the Hyatt chain for what I need and this attempt just confirmed that, for me, Hyatt’s are worthless. I’d be interested if anyone has switched with the limited offer of status and if they have found it to be a valuable relationship? I see this change as an AAdvantage devaluation. Not tragic, but not good either. Thoughts?
Agree completely that Hyatt is not a complete standalone program, their footprint is simply too small. However, they have some excellent properties and the Globalist benefits are top notch.
Now that I'm LT plat on Marriott, I'll probably aim to hit Ambassador on Marriott and Globalist on Hyatt. Choice is a good thing and the fact that Globalist means no resort fees speaks directly to my soul.
TL;DR - I'm happy with the partnership.

I would keep them at Hilton, but just remember that Hilton points expire after 15 months (used to be 12 months) of "no activity". So figure out how to keep them "alive" for cheap. (If you don't know of an option that would work for you, search or ask in the Hilton forum.)
