“We have chosen a seat for the 787-8s that we’ll receive in 2020,” a spokesperson told us. “It’s an enhanced version of the Collins Super Diamond seat model that we have on our current 787-9 and some 777-200s.”
So not very "new" to AA, but new for the 787-8s. And not a big surprise, given how the Super Diamond seems to be the standard J seat for AA these days.

On a related note, it looks like PHL-AMS is losing the 787 for a few months this spring as well, switching over to an A330-200 from mid-March until early June.
If AA's new 787-8s are indeed getting a new J seat (as discussed in another thread), perhaps a few existing 787s are getting pulled for seat upgrades to help harmonize some of that fleet ahead of the summer travel season?
