Great and very interesting news. Seems that AA has all but abandoned growth at RDU while others are adding like mad (namely DL, who I believe serves 30 destinations now to AA's 12).
Big question about how much competition that route can handle, with RDU-BOS already being served by Delta and JetBlue, plus Frontier and Spirit. Overall, very positive news. |

AA to start BOS - RDU/IND/ILM
Per TPG, AA to start three new routes out of BOS: RDU, IND, ILM. RDU will be up to 5x daily, IND 2x daily, and ILM Saturdays only, all starting in early May.

So is BOS now a de facto focus city?

I'm a bit surprised nobody is flying a 50 seater regional jet to SBN from BOS, if IND gets 2x E175s a day. It's pretty easy to make money on short-haul with a small plane, and you have the chance to be the only non-stop in town. |

AUS was previously announced too.

I wonder if there would be a market for a second daily, summer only, flight from RDU to LHR. Perhaps on a BA 788.

Being partial based from Boston, I do like the rebuilding of destinations. I do wonder how these will perform against Jet Blue and Delta which operate most of the same routes. Here is where AA will be flying nonstop from BOS this year ()source Wikipedia).
