A non-FT view of AA from a first-time international flyer...(my mom!)

My mom and stepdad just flew AA international for the first time and paid to “upgrade” to Premium Economy.

It’s always nice to see an outsider’s perspective on our beloved airline!!!!

Merry Christmas, FT PEEPS!!!!!

It’s nice that you and your mom have your own language that no one else can understand.

Is that her with the cookie?

I think the joke is supposed to be "we paid to upgrade and all we got was a choice of cookies or peanuts"

Of course:
1. there are no peanuts
2. if this were truly premium economy on an int'l flight, there would be a (fairly passable) meal
3. sounds like your parents may have simply paid for MCE seats?
4. even then, there would be a meal. but maybe this is MCE on JFK-YUL or something.

Merry Christmas, OP

1. What were the city pairs?
2. What kind of plane?
3. Do they know the difference betweeen MCE and Premium Economy?

Have her fly Spirit or Frontier, Premium Economy on AA would look like First Class.

I think the other person is OP's stepfather. OP's own responses would be on the right but there are none.

Why would they be texting each other instead of just talking if they were on the same flight?

They probably had basic premium economy tickets and were not seated near each other.

hmm....thought this would be funnier to people.

The comment and photo about the AA flight attendants being 80yo was the funniest part of that text.

They weren't ON the flight....the flight was a week ago.

They didn't think the upgrade to PE was worth the price paid from regular Y.

Win some, lose some. Another day in FT, I guess. LoL

Merry Christmas, peeps.

Not compared to big front seat, which is superior (and at least you know what you’re getting in terms of service)

Dude....AA has like the oldest FA's of any airline. Obviously, a reoccurring commentary on this forum.
