here is what my email said
Hours in the sky... 178 Times around the world 6.5 Most common aircraft.. 777 Rank among EXP 3% But of course I could add my trip over Christmas to this list.. but why I wonder if this email from AA to suppose to make us feel important. |

Hours in the Sky: 309 Times around the World: 6 Took me a lot longer to fly a shorter distance. I must be flying on slower aircraft. (Seriously, though, I assume they're using blocked time vs. actual air time.) I was hoping they'd add Hours on the Tarmac or Hours waiting for the Jetbridge... For those who need a reminder, here's last year's thread |
EQD: 49,264
EQM: 139,794 EQS: 26 Renewed CK in Dec 2019, then later earned EXP in Dec 2019. Hours in the sky: 123 Times around the world: 2.5 Destinations: 12 Most Flown: Boeing 777 Top Destinations: Munch, Zurich, New Orleans Award miles earned without flying: 182,055 Award miles earned because you are elite: 207,365 Rank amongst CK: Not stated (I guess it isn't very high - haha) |
I received the email without a top % of EXP- but the EQDs and EQMs that pushed me to re-qualifying only posted this morning- I would guess that the batch process generating this email ran sometime before that. Would be interesting to see if anyone who unambiguously re-qualified prior to a few days ago failed to receive that percentile info. I seem to remember that there was some question about this last year.

Oh!!
and here’s a good one..., upgrades received: 40+ I never kept count. |
Only top 20% of EXP lol....mainly a domestic flyer.
|
For me the high point was the avoided baggage charge statistic, which was >$1,000. Best bit of LT PLT status IMO.

Last year, at 4.5 times around the world (165 hours in the sky), I was ranked among the top 19% of Executive Platinum members (based on miles flown). But this year, also 4.5 times around the world (138 hours in the sky), I'm ranked among the top 9% of Executive Platinum members.
How curious that my distance-based ranking among EXP members increased while the distance I actually flew this year decreased. I'm not quire sure what to make of this fact pattern, but it raises some academic questions, for sure: Are comparatively more EXP qualifying this year with short segments? Compared to last year, are a greater proportion of EXP qualifying with primarily J- and F- fares (high EQM multiples)? Have the increased EQD requirements this year led those that qualified last year on mostly Y-fares or PE-fares (low EQM multiples) to not make the cut? [Is the inverse fact-pattern discernible among PP, for example?] (How) has the elimination of most easy paths to bonus EQM & EQD via credit card impacted the mix of EXP members more broadly? Anyway - it's fun that they send these stats out... if anyone were inclined to do so - with more comparative data points - I suppose one could suss out if/how the EXP cohort this year has evolved from last year. |

I made it through with 105k EQM and 16k EQD. It would have been higher if OW actually flew to more places I went in 2019. |
I feel left out, I haven't received mine yet!

I also check 2 bags almost always |
82 hours in the sky and 2X around the world. No mention of rank among EXPs. I wonder what your percentile has to be in order for them to report it. I see a 22% above.
|
No rank... Finishing the year with 123,300 EQM and $19,000 EQD.
|
1.5x around the world for me - not counting the additional .5 today dxb-lhr-sfo-phx. Just sat down for the last leg!
|
132 Hours in sky
2.5 Times around world 4 Destinations visited 142,500 miles redeemed for upgrades/award travel Most visited Puerto Vallarta - Barcelona - Rio de Janeiro Longest non-stop 6,156 LAX-GRU No mention of ranking among EXPs (which makes since because why tell me how low I am lol) No mention of most flown aircraft, either, although I think it would be E175 |
196 Hours in the sky
3 times around the world 22 destinations visited Also no ranking for me - but I fly nearly exclusively domestic short-hauls. No "most flown" either - I suppose AA doesn't want to make people feel bad about themselves (I'm certain it's an ER4). For a data point, I'm at $35K EQD, 89K EQM, and 144 EQS |
30 hours in the sky for me but I wonder if my BA flights are counted...
|
Time spent in CLT after landing but waiting for a gate: 100 Years.
|
This year was more tame compared to last year. Still have an upcoming trip to GCM and ORD to round out the year.

Top 16%, 55+ upgrades, $30 checked bag savings (which I don't think is true as I don't recall checking bags except for flights that i was already in J).

Since retiring in 2014 I've been a "free agent" on long hauls, choosing whatever business Class flights fit my criteria regardless of airline and leaning towards AA on domestic Coach since I get a free checked bag as LT Gold. This year, thanks to a flight to HNL, I actually QUALIFIED for Gold. That and 99 cents will get me a small cup of coffee at McDonald's. |
My stats from AA
201 hours in the sky 14 destinations visited 3 times around the world 90+ upgrades received 3 times around the world no mention of where I rank compared to other EP’S these stats are not 100% accurate. I had several trips where AA endorsed my ticket to other airlines because of mechanical delays. I also flew a Pitt to LGA to DFW to DCA to Pitt trip after I received the email. |

Hours in the Sky: 211
Times Around the World: 5.5 Rank among EP: 4% Upgrades Received: 30+ Checked Bag Savings: $30 Most trips with just a back-pack and a roller-board including +2 weeks trips. |
I count only 10 data points to date with both EXP % and # times around the world. 2 points where they mention only one of the two without saying that they didn't get both. Just based on the 10 points, it does seem like miles flown is down a bit- 4.5x in 2018 ranged from 15-23 percentile, while there are 15-16 percentile at 4x and 9 and 12 percentile at 4.5x for 2019. At the 3rd percentile, we have 3 different # times around the world, 5.5, 6 and 6.5, which is also lower than 2018, where 5.5x consisted of 8,7 and 6 percentile, and 6x of 5th and 4th percentile.
