Were all your miles earned from the CCs legit? Nothing like returning purchased items, collecting bonuses you werent entitled to or other attempts to screw the system?

I am in a very odd situation. I received an email from AA Corporate Security - Loyalty Fraud team today, in reference to my account, along with my wife's. The email stated, roughly:
"You have been found to have committed multiple violations of the program terms, related to the accrual of ineligible miles and benefits."
It goes on to state that because I have committed this more than once, my account is terminated, all upcoming award travel is cancelled, and all award miles have been forfeited. Total cost of this action was roughly 1.7M miles.

Never returned any items, all miles were from real credit card spend. There were bonus miles from a train, but that is it. Outside of me, I have never heard of an account shutdown by AA, due to Citi approving me for a card, and meeting the bonus spend requirements. I've seen Citi shutdowns, but never AA.

OP seems to do a lot of card churning based on previous posts. If the spend is not using MS tricks, would guess the card churning was likely the trigger.

Same email on two accounts could well be a flag. Same password as well? I should hope not!
Of course husbands and wife will usually share a surname and address so that aspect shouldn’t be an issue.
It’s not good account hygiene with the same organisation to do that sort of thing Not wanting marketing emails is a poor excuse given you can opt out. I’ve never had a marketing email from AA because I opted out from them so the only ones I get are related to flights.

There is always a reason. It may be a case of identity fraud or a small detail left out of the story. I think your only hope is to identify this and fess up to AA.

There is usually more to these stories that the OPs tend to leave out until pressed by others or until they have an epiphany.
For now, well just wait.

Until OP reports back what reason Security gives him when he finally gets additional info from them, there really isn't much more we can do is speculate.
Calling about a wife's account isn't going to cost a 1.7 million mile penalty.
There is more to this.
OP indicated "No fully flexible fare cancels"
What about non flexible fare cancellations?
Has the OP or wife ever used award miles for anyone else, or has ever posted them for sale, even if you later removed the posting, and no sale took place?
There really isn't much to go on here, such as OP reported he did nothing wrong.
Until there is a more clear communication with Security there is nothing to do but wait
