Medical emergency. A person with diabetes apparently had a hypoglycemic episode. The aircraft will be there a while, afaik, due to crew timing out issues.

Doubtful....a 77W full of people doesn't get re-routed on JL for something so small.

This may sound mean, but this seems like this is an entirely preventable incident.

Lots of medical issues are entirely preventable, or nearly so. It's an increasing social and economic problem. But does that mean that we shouldn't treat people when they are in that situation, regardless of how or why they got there?

I can’t look at that flight path without hearing the old school sound effect of a record needle scratching.

Indeed! As a Type 1 diabetic myself, I understand both sides here. But yes, it needs to be treated no matter how it happened. It must have been quite serious to not be treatable in the air. Basically, you need to get some sugar into the person somehow. The person must have been fully unconscious. Even then, if you have some kind of sweet creamy type substance, such as honey or icing, you can rub it on the inside of the cheek and it will be absorbed. Maybe there were more complications than just low blood sugar.
