Movies and TV Shows missing on 737 AVOD?

I'm on a 737 with AVOD screens but there is no option to watch movies or TV shows. Only options are eReader, Favorites, Hospitality, My Flight, and About Us. Is this new? It seems weird to have to take out my iPad to watch a movie with a useless screen in front of me.

It's a glitch and a restart by the FAs will re-initialize it to show the proper media options:

But the bigger, not so new but still worth of attention by AA, title should be:

Seat back IFE missing on 737?
- or -

Help! My seat back has lost its IFE. Did I go to sleep on American and wake up on SouthWest?
I could go on and on....

Thanks! They reset my screen and now it's working. They are resetting the rest of the aircraft screens now.

Awesome!

At this time there aren't any known plans to stop servicing the seat-back IFE media server on remaining narrow-body aircraft are still equipped so if you have a problem like that again, a restart can do the trick.

For some issues, restarting the IFE yourself by holding the power button for about 10 seconds will also resolve the issue. I usually try that once and if it doesn't work, then have the FA restart from the galley. I assume the self-restart is restarting just the client whereas the FA restart also resets the server.

I've grown to prefer using my own device for entertainment on shorter flights:
1. Can use my wireless headphones as wireless (don't need to plug in)
2. No interruptions from announcements nor from credit card pitches
3. If there is IFE on the aircraft, I'll just put the route map up so I can keep an eye on where we are

I came across this too recently, and incorrectly first thought "how cheap can this airline get? I was thinking they were purposefully disabling the content to save costs or something like that. Glad to know there is a fix!
