Easiest way to finish getting Status

It is near the end of the year, and I have no more projected work or personal trips scheduled. To maintain status, I need to spend $102 on a flight. What is the best way to do this? Is it possible to buy some voucher? Or pay for a ticket, check in but not get on the plane?

If needs be, I am willing to waste a day to do a flight to another airport and then turn around and come home, but I am trying to avoid that if at all possible.

Thanks

Why not take a cheap flight to someplace you'd like to spend a weekend? That would be better than just flying to some random airport and immediately flying back home.

You have to fly in order to get the EQD credit, there's no way around it. So just play around with Google Flights to determine the quickest/cheapest out and back you can do from wherever your starting point is.

Your derriere must be in contact with airplane upholstery to get the credit.

Put it that way, and I'd rather sit on my legs.

I know that is an option, and that is a consideration. At this point, my calendar is rapidly filling up for the year with work, kids stuff, and non-flight trip plans.

With four kids, it is a balance to determine which is more cost effective. Fly or Drive.

Our Thanksgiving trip is going to be cheaper and will actually be faster to just drive. So long as I get them all wired in, I don't mind.

But I understand the sentiment.

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

Also, see this thread, https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/amer...er-thread.html, in this forum. The expandable Wikipost at the top of the thread has some potentially useful information.

Unfortunately nothing you can do other than buy a ticket (and actually fly it) that'll get you the requisite EQDs. You could gamble and see what kind of status buy-back offer you get towards the end of the year, but there's no guarantee it'll be reasonable.

if time is very important to you, the only other way is the wait for an offer from AA to renew/keep your status. It will certainly be more than $102.
