Help booking flight (MEX-MSY via MIA)

I am trying to book MEX-MIA-MSY.

AA 505 (MEX-MIA) is J2 R1 D0 I0 Y7 B7 H7 K7 M7 L7 G0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 E0
AA 2355 (MIA-MSY) is J7 R1 D0 I0 Y7 B7 H7 K7 M7 L7 G0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 E0

But I cannot seem to get this option to show up. It gives me the late MIA and an overnight or the earlier departure via DFW.

Is this married segment logic?

Also the connection time is 2 hours and 2 minutes. So should be above MCT

I'd guess 1) routing rules dictate that a single MEX-MSY fare doesn't allow for a connection in MIA and 2) a MEX-MIA fare cannot be combined with domestic fare (e.g MIA-MSY).

Thanks. That would be interesting. The issue is the last DFW flight with viable eastbound connections is 2:10 PM. As opposed to the 4:45 PM MIA flight which opens up more due to westbound traffic.

I'd pay a premium as I'm only there for a weekend, so surprised they wouldnt offer it at a markup.

You didn't say the date but my quick glance at the fare routing rules all said

MAP CONSTRUCTED LEFT TO RIGHT AND RIGHT TO LEFT 1. MEX-DFW-MSY

You could book two separate reservations if you really want that routing. Of course, that incurs additional risk.

Have you tried booking the itinerary using the multi-city booking engine?

No dice. Not even google flights, ITA - simply doesnt show up. I see cases where I can find a route on Google flights multi-city to force a routing, and AA doesn't allow me to ticket it. But this is the first time I cant get it to appear at all.

10/13.

Can you explain what that means? Going east or west, the only permitted way is via DFW?

Book 2 one way flights? You’ll still have to re-clear security and re-check your bags anyway

Sure, the same rules are filed for your date, and that's exactly what it means.

Connecting in DFW vs. a 2 hour ITD connection in MIA makes more sense anyway. Maybe AA knows that, too.

Except the last departure option is 2:10 PM, which is awfully early

I fly MEX-DFW-OKC often and I am able to use the 6PM MEX-DFW flight that arrives around 9 pm since there is a 10:30 PM DFW-OKC flight. If the flight is early and there is not a long wait at Immigration or security, I have been able to standby and make it on the 9:40 DFW-OKC flight. I think there is a 90 MCT, so I assume there is no 10:30 PM or later DFW-MSY flight, making the 6pm flight unworkable in your case.
