Convert Bonvoy hotel points to AAdvantage miles?

https://www.aa.com/i18n/aadvantage-p...s-to-miles.jsp

I use to move my SPG points over from time to time but haven't since the merger, 1:1 IIRC.
is this a decent value under the new Bonvoy? 60k Marriotts to 31,250 AA miles?

The ratio of SPG points to AA miles has not changed. During the transition, the exchange rate was set at 1 SPG Point to 3 Marriott Points.

You used to get 25k AA miles for every 20k SPG points. Now you get 25k AA miles for every 60k Bonvoy points.

Well, I could use some convoy points for a trip to Madrid next January. I think I need about 100,000 Bonvoy points to do the job. How many AAdvantage miles will I need?

I don't believe you can transfer AA to Bonvoy, only Bonvoy to AA.

45k miles r/t to MAD in Jan, so you would actually need 135k Bonvoy points to do the job.

Normally Marriott transfers into AA at a 3:1 base rate. This means 30k Marriott becomes 10k AA, and 60k Marriott becomes 20k AA.
There is also a perpetual bonus offer, where for each 60k Marriott you transfer, you get 5k AA.

So if you transferred 60k Marriott, you’d get a total of 25k AA miles. Since SPG converted to Marriott at 1:3, this is identical to the old SPG conversation rates where Starpoints transferred 1:1, plus a bonus 5k miles if you transferred 20k (so 20k Starponts became 25k miles).

The current AA promotion grants 25% extra miles, but this bonus is on the 3:1 base rate only. So 60k Marriott usually becomes 20k AA, but with the promotion in effect, becomes 25k AA. The 5k bonus for transferring 60k Marriott still applies too, so you’d end up with 30k AA for your 60k Marriott.

OK Thanks
So 30 K total AA points, under this offer and the normal Marriott bonus for 60K Marriott miles transfer miles is correct

thanks for clarifying that. I had assumed that the 25% bonus was on the 25K miles.

That's how AA's website appears to lay it out. Here it is verbatim:

30,000 Marriott Bonvoy points = 10,000 AAdvantage® miles + 25% bonus

60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points = 20,000 AAdvantage® miles + 25% bonus

90,000 Marriott Bonvoy points = 30,000 AAdvantage® miles + 25% bonus

For every 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points converted within the same transaction, you'll earn an additional 5,000 bonus AAdvantage® miles
I read this as the the 25% bonus is applied on the 3:1, and the 5k bonus is separate.

Major blogs appear to disagree with me, and agree with your 31,250 figure...
https://onemileatatime.com/american-...-points-bonus/
https://thepointsguy.com/news/hotels...ransfer-bonus/

However, one commenter on One Mile At A Time who actually did try a transfer says they only got 30k instead of 31,250.

I transferred 60k Marriott points to AA 2 days ago.Today,I see 25k and 5K bonus points posted to my account .so ,I only got 30k AA miles instead of 31250.
I did register for the 25% bonus under promotions on AA app.

So I stand by my position that the bloggers are wrong.
