Purchasing >150k AA miles - glitch or new rules?

I have bought exactly 150k miles a couple of months ago.
Now AA.com still allows me to buy 150k miles on the current promo of a 35% discount.

Glitch or is it related to new AA rules to allow the limit to be (temporarily or longer...) suspended...?

I didn't know they changed (even if temporarily) the 150k (not counting bonus) annual limit. Is there an announcement?

We probably wouldn't need it, but it would be good to know.

Thanks.
