Over weight bags - International to Domestic

Just a finished a flt from CPH to ORD then on to STL on a separate booking #
One of our bags was 58 lbs and I was anticipating that AA would require me to lighten the load when I checked in for my ORD - STL flight. They didn't.
After clearing customs, I went to the AA counter that they have right outside of customs to check my bags. They checked the bags in just like any flight. Did they not care about the over weight since I was coming off an international flight? I thought they might since it was a separate ticket from the international one.
Thanks

Thanks... I was using a lot of that luck throughout a 2 week trip. Glad it didn't run out then.

Well they did have all my "international" bag tags still on them. (all be it they were * Alliance ones) Maybe they just assumed they should get the international weight allowances since they were coming off an international flt.

We’re you in J for ORD-STL? The allowance is 70 lb. for domestic J. Otherwise, it was good luck. 👍🏻

Nope... just lowly coach for that leg. I did do J for CPH to ORD but again, that was on a UA booking number. I think all the priority tags and the fact that I was coming off an international flight worked to my benefit. :-)
