IROPS and EQM

Originally booked in PY BKK-HKG-JFK on CX with miles to be credited to AA.

Because of the issues in HKG, was re-routed on BA from BKK to LHR to JFK. And then upgraded to J at the gate! Wow! Talk about lucky.

What should I expect in terms of posted miles to AA?
1. Is it going to post without my intervention?
2. Is it going to be based on the original flight routing or the new routing?
3. Based on PY not J?

My bet: Yes, New, PY.
Thoughts?

Try requesting Original Routing Credit because you were involuntarily rerouted. Use those words. You can do this now, or after things have posted if it’s not in your benefit.,

The BA flights that you actually flew will post. Whether you get credit for PE or J depends on how the op-up was processed/handled by the agent, no way to know until it posts.

Calculate how many miles/EQD you would have earned on the CX routing, then wait for the BA flights to post. If the BA flights end up earning more, then great, leave it alone. If it's less, then you can call AAdvantage Customer Service (not the normal reservations number) and request original routing credit.

BKK-LHR-JFK is further than BKK-HKG-JFK. PE earns the same on BA-marketed as CX-marketed. So new route should win even if they credit at PE. Unless any of the segments were AA-marketed. But, yeah, do the math to be sure.
