Upgrade possible for partner award T fare?
I am flying on an AS award ticket (AS metal) from FAI to LHR with my last leg JFK-LHR (T fare) on AA metal. As it stands now per AA’s site, I can upgrade my seat to paid MCE, even though the fare is considered ineligible for upgrades. Will there be opportunities for paid PE at check-in or does T class preclude this altogether? I called AA but the rep thought even MCE was off limits to me and directed me back to AS.

AA will sometimes offer paid upgrade opportunities at check-in if it looks like seats in the premium cabins will go unsold, typically via an airport kiosk or online/app. These are called LFBU (load factor based upgrades), see below thread for details.
