Glassware mis-cater: UA glassware on AA flight

I flew in AA F on SAN-DFW recently, and my beverage was served in this interesting glassware...

I'm sure this happens with some regularity, but it's still entertaining.

hopefully you had the reliability of United and not the abysmal state of AA ;)

AA glass blowers are staging a work slow down.

Haha, Suprisingly, it was on time. If it hadn't been an A321, I would be wondering if it was really a United flight.

That'd be a problem, because Delta still hasn't reinstated their inter-glassware agreement with AA. :D

At least it was glass and not styrofoam.

Yes we still won the Revolutionary War as the glassblowers' union was manning the airports

Perhaps @JonNYC can opine. How does this happen. Why.

I had this happen on a flight earlier this year. I was told it happens more often at stations where Republic Airlines serves Envoy and United Express as well as mainline flights. The glasses simply get put on the wrong flights.

I took this one last year...

This is what happened on my flight from SYD to LAX earlier this month.

I understand how UA glassware or napkins (or any other airline's service items) can get mixed in with AA stock in the catering kitchens. Each airline does not maintain a separate kitchen at any given airport.

But how on earth did Acela glassware get onto an AA flight? Does Amtrak have a catering station at Newark that also services EWR ? Or maybe the Logan catering kitchen also services Boston South Station ?

This is a puzzle!
