DFW. It's always been a lot easier for me.

I have missed my last 5 D-I connections at DFW so I now prefer anywhere else. I seem to always have to wait for gate there and the airport is too spread out for running through the terminal to be effective....

DFW, no doubt. More options for recovery should there be an issue with the JL flight. 787 vs. a 777, which on a 13+ hr flight can make a difference. Weather is a tossup in my view in April.

DFW has been a IRROPS nightmare for me this season, both as a destination and as a connection point.
Both have great food. Both are awful for taxiing for eons.
Thunderstorms seem to plague DFW more. I'd probably go for ORD...
If something went sideways & I was stuck in a city for a day, I'd rather get stuck in Chicago right now...

I think ord is much easier to navigate than dfw. Just my option. YMMV!

DFW would be my choice- simply based on capacity of AA flights.

And I expect JONNYC to post the following soon (tongue in cheek)" Chairman Parker upgrades ORD service by using the MEGABUS as the replacement for all AA mainline and regional flights in and out of ORD. Connecting with a AA partner out of ORD, you will have the on-time predictability of the MEGABUS. AA will move all aircraft currently assigned to ORD to CLT and PHX. " Just joking of course (at least I hope so), but AA is slowly migrating away from ORD, which means less opportunities to fly in and of ORD.

A few more notes, I fly AA on average eight flights per week (ten flights this week), and I will say in my experience the delays at ORD are not nearly as common as perceived, and I have more missed connections at DFW than ORD in the past two years. Yes, other PAX have other observations, I am simply sharing mine.

If you are going to be stuck a long time, especially overnight, I prefer ORD. In May my ELP DFW flight was significantly delayed (I was heading to MCI). I was rerouted ELP, ORD, MCI, with a four hour layover at ORD. After arriving at ORD, took a UBER to Lou Malinati's in Elk Grove Village for a awesome THIN CRUST pizza (better than deep dish). Being stuck at ORD can have some advantages. But connecting at ORD overall is not good when compared to DFW, simply because DFW can provide more flights on larger aircraft. DFW now has a Garretts Popcorn, and has a Magiano's (a Chicago origin Italian Restaurant). At the terminal, DFW has more dining options.

Having just done international connections at both I'd go with DFW every time. Of course I've been there 57 times in the last two years so I can pretty much autopilot my way anywhere but I really appreciate having the Grand Hyatt right there for when things go wrong.

Yep. I have not so fond memories of watching Tiger Woods win the Masters this year in the ORD AC as a massive snow storm shut down pretty much everything. In and out. I am ORD based, but I would connect in DFW. Anything can happen weather-wise in Chicago in April.

DFW.

Unquestionably the easiest megahub in the world to connect in. Not the prettiest, but a superior functional existence.

If the JL flight was timed to leave in the evening, you could say DFW could have wx issues.
Spring storms are evening occurrences; never in the morning.

DFW, no contest

ORD is a cess pool, limited options for almost everything compared to DFW, plus DFW has a centurion lounge - at that time of day it probably won't be crowded.

I had the same option for the same basic question a couple weeks ago. We chose ORD instead of DFW.

PHL --> ORD --> NRT on AA to JL in F.

My daughter said 'Oh isn't Chicago where we had that really good popcorn'....... So yes, on an International F award - the popcorn in ORD made the connection decision for us.

Considering this Spring in April I was taking a beautiful Chicago architectural boat tour in warm sunny weather and then the next day Ohare gets enough snow to shut down the airport and AA Exex Plat line has a 6 hour wait I pick DFW anytime over ORD
