Just wondering, are you lounges these days really worth it , in terms of getting a credit card just to access them? and then having to put up with the hassle of not getting in.
I know it not nice when you are thinking about spending time there, only to be denied.

Class action is a step too far. But OP is wrongly denied access. I support OP to contact both AA customer service and citi card customer support. And I welcome OP to report back what AA and Citi has to say about it.

To sue one needs to file a complaint in a specified form and pay a filing fee, at least in the US. To win takes a lot more.

So are these partner lounges used to seeing the Citi card vs. an actual admirals club membership card? This thread made me realize I have some Asia travel coming up in two weeks and will be trying to access two partner lounges - just trying to be prepared.

Class action law suit over a loss of maybe $10.00 in perceived benefit. Makes you realize why our legal system is in such shambles.
It costs $157 to commence a civil action in Indiana. Add $28 for service by the sheriff.....

And OP still hasn't clarified exactly why he was denied entry...did the agent say the lounge was at capacity, or was the agent just poorly trained and said that card doesn't allow access to this lounge? Would be interesting to know for more context.
One thing you can do, at check-in ask the AA agent for a lounge invitation, they can see you're an AC member and it should be the same lounge they would provide invitations for for F & J pax. This will prevent any confusion and agent error when you check-in, and typically guests with lounge invites will not be turned away due to capacity (unlike credit card holders and Priority Pass, etc.).

My family and I are going to Dublin in a few weeks. I have a membership through the Citi card. It looks like Dublin is similar to Athens. Should I be allowed to bring my family in as guests into Dublin? Just want to be prepared. We are supposed to check out of our airbnb downtown Dublin about 5 hours prior to our departure. Will just go hang out at the airport lounge if we can use it without issue.

Well maybe, but unlike small claims court, which is what much of the "I'm going to sue the airline!" discussion on FT pertains to, the traditional court system (not sure if this would be federal or otherwise) is not limited to actual financial damages. Punitive damages, obviously, but a judgment (or settlement) could require AA and/or Citi to more proactively work with the partner lounges to ensure errors like this don't happen, or if there is a capacity constraint that the cardholder gets some $ amount to spend in a F&B outlet. I think most people would agree that would be a good outcome, no? (Putting aside the cost-benefit of pursuing such.)

Thank you. We will probably take a cab, but haven't researched that yet. There will be 4 of us with probably a total of 5 suitcases and everybody will have a backpack or similar as well. That might be too much for a cab.
