American Airlines Not Letting Me Check-In Online

I am running into an issue I have never had before on American. I am trying to check in for my flight from SEA - LAX - OGG set for tomorrow morning and it is not letting me check in online. I go through the entire process and I end up getting and error saying I need to check in at the airport. My ticket is a standard economy ticket (not basic) and we are not checking any bags. I am not sure why it is not letting me check in online.

I would prefer to check-in ahead of time as my flight leaves at 5:55am and I really don't want to deal with getting to the airport earlier than normal to stand in line at the checkin counter.

Congratulations, you've likely been selected for SSSS. Enjoy your free TSA provided massage. Get to the airport 10 minutes earlier than planned and you'll be fine.

Actually the TSA would like $5.60 to provide that service, tips in the form of gift cards are welcome

If you get SSSS once you check in at the desk - do not wait in long security line. You can tell any TSA officer that you got a quad and they will escort you to the front of the line.

While that is the likely explanation, it is not the only reason.

I strongly urge you to call AA immediately and determine whether there is an issue with your ticket. If it is security-related, you will get some meaningless answer. But, if there is a problem, it is a lot easier to have it fixed while you sit at home/office and multitask, than to stand at an airport counter watching the clock tick down to departure time.

Do you have seat assignments as of right now?
If not, it might be an oversold cabin situation? IF oversold, agents on the phone won't be able to do anything for you as you are still confirmed for your flights (no basis for free change). You will just have to go to the airport and most likely by the time you check-in everything will be resolved.

Why would they do this? Makes no sense. But now that I say that, this might be right up TSA’s alley.

no idea why they do that. Maybe cuz you are considered a risk and they want to inspect you ASAP. Or cuz it takes longer and they don’t want you to miss a flight

Go into your reservation and check on your information. Make sure your passport info is there and make sure the state you live in is there as well any field that has a red dot.
This happened to us a couple of months ago on our return from FRA. No problems on our trip over but, according to the check in agent, the state where we live was not showing in the reservation. We did not get the dreaded SSSS, in fact we got Precheck (my husband does not have KTN and I do).

it’s a domestic flight and all required information submitted during booking so that’s definitely not the issue here

Sorry, didn't google the airport code. But it is still worth checking the traveler info associated with the ticket, I mean it can't hurt.

I am unaware that you can get SSSS on a domestic flight.
