BOS-LAX Flight diverted...and that's it? (Removed pax at STL)
I have an upcoming flight tonight from Boston to Los Angeles. Just now, AA diverted the flight to St. Louis, and not just an extra stop, they had no plan to go to LAX after that...
I called AA and the lady is the rudest customer rep person I have ever spoken to, even by AA standard. She said, what will a flight do if there is an emergency at 30,000 feet, divert! Oh, how reassuring that is, emergency diversion before the flight takes off. Also asked to speak to a supervisor, and was told that there is no supervisor. So, instead of going to LAX, stuck in St. Louis now??? |

If you have not yet departed, you can ask AA to rebook you, perhaps on DL, perhaps on UA. If you end up in STL for the night, AA is obligated under their conditions of carriage to put you up for the night at AA's expense. If you want to call AA, you might have better luck by calling AA's Off-Schedule Operations (OSO) number: 800-THE-EGGS.

It's not clear here what's going on.
Are you saying that the incoming aircraft that was scheduled to operate BOS-LAX diverted to STL before it made to to BOS? And thus your BOS-LAX flight will most likely be delayed and/or cancelled? If yes, then just call AA back and have them switch you to a different flight. Or are you saying you were already onboard flying BOS-LAX and midway through the flight it diverted to STL? Thus you are in STL now trying to get to LAX? If this is the case, what are the agents there saying about the flight continuing or rebooking options? |

The incoming flight is on time. My flight is the outbound BOS-LAX flight that is supposed to depart at 8PM today. Got a text that it is diverted to STL. I thought this is just an extra stop, but not. They will only fly to STL and go back to BOS next morning. They could just do that??
You might also see how muchJetBlue wants for BOS-LAX tonight or tomorrow. While AA will not reaccommodate you on JetBlue, you could obtain a full refund from AA, and buy a last-minute ticket on JetBlue if the price is acceptable to you. |

Weird, sometimes the very long westbound transcons like this can have scheduled diversions/pit stops when the headwinds are up, typically only in the winter though. I've never heard if them just flying to the diversion point though and not continuing on barring real bad irrops. Could just be that the "2nd leg" hasnt fully flowed through the system yet to show up. In any even I would see what other options are available and call AA back and ask to be rebooked.

The original flight number is AA167. Now it shows two legs,
8:13PM BOS 1:10AM STL 10:10PM STL 12:20AM LAX They are overlapping, so I am not sure how this could work. |

Those times don't make sense, if you leave BOS at 8:13pm you will be in STL well before 1:10am. I'm guessing exact situation hasn't fully been decided and/or flowed through the reservations system.
There's a big storm system in the midwest that I'm guessing AA doesn't think it can fly around. |

I thought they could be bringing the hockey teams but they're headed in the wrong direction.

Flight Aware shows Boston to St. Louis in the air now (8:30 CDT June 11) with an apparent continuation on to California later. I don't pay for the upgraded service so I can't see if it is a change of aircraft or a fuel stop. AA.com does not seem to be leaving enough scheduled time between flight legs for either.
