Odd Cancellation Behavior
I'm going to Europe next week, via LHR, and I had booked my trip a couple of months ago. Got a decent fare on a J ticket SEA-JFK-LHR, and used an SWU to upgrade to F on JFK-LHR leg. A couple of weeks ago, I log into AA and look at the trip, and I notice my seat assignment for SEA-JFK is missing (as is the plane assignment). I finally had time to call the CK desk yesterday morning, and I did some quick research and what do you know, but there is no more SEA-JFK flight. Fortunately, I was able to get another option through LAX with the 77w so I could stay in F.
I know JFK scheduling is in flux, but I would have thought AA would have notified me that my flight no longer existed. Odd fail of customer service, that I'm glad I was proactive about. |
Wasn't that originally a MAX flight? Makes you wonder how many people have to do a mad scramble when they check in online or worse at the airport when no alternates exist.

There's a thread with ongoing discussion about the SEA-JFK flights here:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/amer...p-service.html I generally look at my itineries online about once a week just to make sure everything looks ok. A little more often as the time gets closer. |
Yeah, the cancellation didn't bug me, it was just the lack of notification from AA.

I am with aztimm, i check about once a week, and more often as the long haul gets closer. I have been able to catch seat changes and time changes before it goes out from whatever second hand flight notification software they are using.
