Rumor: AA to order A321LR or A321XLR (confirmed - see new thread)

Rumor! Rumor! Rumor!

AA to order 20 or 30 A321LR at Paris Air Show. If they launched A321XLR. Who knows?

Let the speculation begin!

(As posted previously on airliners.net crediting JonNYC with the information.)

American has placed an order for 50 Airbus A321XLR at the PAR19 Paris Airshow 2019 at Le Bourget. As this is no longer a rumor, please follow this topic at

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/amer...s-airshow.html

Thank you,

I was an unapologetic Boeing fan. 747 > 777 > 321T > 787 > 757intl > 767 > other AB.. BUT having read the obfuscation and blame Boeing has put out on the 737Max, including this weekend's NYT articles, good luck Airbus. May Boeing clean its executive leadership, and move forward. $2M for the Boeing CEO a month to blame the pilots of Lion and Ethiopian when their engineering was so wrong. Did multiple 737Max flights. To paraphrase Animal House, I screwed up. I trusted them.

I wish AA had invested in their 757 fleet. But, since they haven't and they look, feel and act like dinosaurs, this will be a welcome addition to the fleet.

Interesting possibilities, but which seating? RC Diamond series, like the 75L and A321T?

I love the idea that there are a bunch of passengers willing to fly Madrid to Singapore to narrow bodies.

Hooray! I hate the really low windows on the 737 you have to give yourself neck ache to see out of!

As an aside seat flyer I’ve never really noticed the differences in the windows much. 🤷🏻.♂️

Most people couldn't care less whether they are flying a 77W or a A321, I think.

Most people in Y will not care. Folks in the front, particularly those traveling alone and those who have become accustomed to having extra space may not be as happy. I for one would actively avoid any plane where someone would have to climb over me to get to the aisle if I am traveling alone.

I'm assuming AA needs to plan on what to replace the LAA 757s with and this makes sense. The only other option would be the 738 Max. I'm assuming the J configuration will be 16F and if we get lucky 20F.

These would be lie-flat equipped for international use.

Yes lie flat like the 757. I tend to doubt AA would go up to 20F but I guess one can hope.

Not like the 757 (75L) and far less than 20
