Not terribly surprised, given the terrible flight reliability the past week. LAX-HNL and PHX-HNL flights have been canceled, and significantly delayed almost everyday. I was wondering how AA could run such a shoddy operation. PHX, I can understand because the 757s are old and probably require more maintenance. But LAX is anther issues. Do they not have enough A321's that are ETOPS-certified or is this the mechanics working slowly due to not having a contract?

Pure coincidence that generally highly reliable and brand new machines all break at the same time.

@JonNYC reported on twitter that 3 A321 ETOPs are out of service at LAX for the same obscure reason, hence the cancellations.

I'm only seeing 297 (OP's flight scheduled for 5:35p) cancelled today. The remaining two flights today--143 at 2:10p and 2205 at 7:55p--are both delayed 2-3 hours but not cancelled.

Can't they book you on a non-AA flight there?

A few years ago, my LAX-HKG leg of an LAX-HKG-TPE trip was canceled and the Admirals Club agents rebooked me on a direct BR flight.
