Arrive 90 minutes in advance for international flight despite a domestic first leg?

Here's AA's published policy on check in and bag check times:

To check-in and check bags at the airport, you must be there a certain amount of time before scheduled departure:
  • Within the U.S. - 45 minutes
  • To or from destinations outside the U.S. - 60 minutes
There are a handful of airports around the world where AA requires 90 minutes prior to departure for check in, but none of them are in Texas...
