Just made EXP / Executive Platinum! Resources, ask questions, brag (2019+)

First, a hearty welcome to Executive Platinum status!

New Executive Platinum members, whether "self-made", via your Concierge Key nomination or made by AA offers, including challenges, to similar status holders from competing airlines, often have questions about how the program works.

Feel free to post your questions here, but also be aware many of your questions about American Airlines, AAdvantage and Executive Platinum status can be answered in these resources:

done the 200K now 5 out of 13 years as EXP... no wonder my lovely wife thinks I travel too much.
Now if AA follows UA... I dont think I will make it.. or even try... (well I say that now, but it is always a challenge to see if I can make EXP again.)
I also will hit 200k this year. Will be my 3rd year in a row.

I agree, way too much. I decided to cut my Tokyo flights from 7 to 6 next year - seems like I am in a perpetual state of jet lag. I have another 2-1/2 years of doing this Japan gig, then I'm done - retired - and become a nobody to AA. It will be nice. I should get lifetime Platinum/OW Sapphire though.

I have not picked the 150k award yet. We have a year to decide. I sit on the 150k/200k awards until it is clear if I can use the SWUs or not.

I thought we only had till Dec31 or this year... I go better check..
Thinking of the SWU too, but like you , I would like to know that they will clear, because with the MQD.. it seems I need to find AA flights that have F to where I need to go.
and well I have been using other OW carriers... for most of my international trips

We actually have until Dec 30, 2020 to decide, so plenty of time to make an informed decision.

This is good to know. Guess I never paid attention. Might hold a bit longer next time to see what I need.

Hit 200k back in early June and 250k in August but had a very slow mid-Sept to now. Should clear 300k on the next trip and it would be nice if they brought back that level again this year but I am not counting on it. Hitting 100% on J to F with SWU as CK this year but I fly through LHR quite often.

Indeed. Fortunately I love being on an airplane. So 140 segments YTD later, still enjoying it.

I'm going to be at 146k by 11/11, with nothing else booked (yet!) for the rest of the year, so I may do a mileage run for the 4k to net me 150k. It'll be the first time I hit 150k so I haven't experienced this before.

If we have until 12/30/2020 to decide on the SWU's vs bonus points, when would those SWU's expire if the request for SWU's was put through on 12/30/2020? Expiration on 01/31/2021 , or 01/31/2022 ?
