LGA-CLT 6:55am flight: reliable?

I have a critical meeting in uptown Charlotte at 10am in a few weeks. Oddly, the first flight of the day from LGA leaves at 6:55am and arrives at 8:50am. I figured it would have left closer to 6am.

Is the first LGA-CLT flight of the day reliable? A delay of half an hour would likely be OK, but I absolutely positively must be uptown by 10am, so If this flight isn’t reliable, I’d better try another one.

Thanks!

Past performance is no guarantee. If it’s that critical, go the day prior.

If you absolutely positively must be there, not having a flight in hand is reckless.

Click the details button on the booking screen for on-time performance data - which the DOT has long required carriers to display.

Yep if the OP NEEDS to be in NYC the only guarantee is to leave the night before. First flights out have a lower chance of delay but there still could be a delay, particularly given it's AA.

Seriously. Get there the day before if it is critical.

Don't forget that traffic is rough from the airport to Uptown at that time of the morning. Billy Graham and 74 (more likely) can be really congested. Even a 1/2 hour delay with traffic could be problematic. In reverse, if I have a 10 a.m. in NYC, I leave CLT the night prior FWIW. Good luck!

Doesn't account for things that are unpredictable, such as weather..

true but then again the OP can opt for flying the night before and there can be storms that CX the flight and then rebooked end up with a very late arrival

If it was me and I couldnt go the day before Id grab that 5am out of EWR

He doesn't need to be in NYC. He's going to Charlotte.

But the advice to leave the night before for a critical meeting (wedding / cruise / event) still applies.

Thanks, everyone. Yuck, I may do the 5am from EWR. Or maybe Amtrak, assuming that its 2am arrival into CLT will be significantly delayed. Better safe than sorry.

I think we can all agree that NYP - CLT on Amtrak is never the solution.

I have the (dis)pleasure of taking the 5AM EWR-CLT several times a year.

So far so good. Plus I think it leaves enough cushion for a 10AM meeting in CLT.

Just makes for a rough late afternoon.

If it is "critical" I think going there the night before is the safe choice.
