AA cancelation policy on flight booked with eGF / electronic gift card

What is the current AA policy for cancelation on domestic basic economy (Most restricted) flight booked using AA eGF? Does the 24 hour still apply? If so, does refund go back to those eGF? or to a voucher that expires?

When I did this a few weeks ago with e voucher (not basic economy though) the refund of the evoucher issued as a paper voucher....

not ideal but at least the expiration date was extended to a year from the paper voucher issue date.

24 hour policy should still apply

Virtual gift card. Electronic gift card. No physical card per see, just codes to enter and activate it. Could be ex-girlfriend as well.

Form of payment is not relevant to either the DOT rule or AA's more liberal cancellation policy. The sole question is the form of the non-cash part of the refund. While the paper voucher is an outdated PITA, it is roughly the same thing as a card in terms of impact.

What is the code to re-activate an eGF if it stands for "ex-girlfriend?"

AA will email you a new gift card about 1-2 weeks after you cancel the flights. As mentioned above the fact that you're in basic economy or paid with gift cards has no bearing on the 24 hr policy. Similar question answered a few times in the GC thread...
