Any updates on the Premium Economy retrofit schedule for the 788s now that we are getting into 2019???

Flying ORD-LHR on the daytime flight in April and have fingers crossed my row 8 seat in MCE becomes a Prem Eco seat.

The current 787-8 seating thread can be found here: Boeing 787-8 / 788 w/ J20, Premium Economy / PE / PEY Discussion (refit completed).

No movement on the remaining 19 788's without PE yet, oddly.

AA certainly plans to have these completed by late spring, however, as I was looking at a DFW-FRA on 1 June the other day, which is in the schedule as a 788 now. It had PE for sale.

Does AA actually sell the premium economy seats? I was looking at a DFW-ICN for next month and PE was available seatwise, but not for sale. Didn't appear sold out - just not even an option. It was in March though, showing sold out if it was.

The is the first international trip I've booked in a while and PE didn't even exist, so I'm confused.

It is for sale on routes where AA is scheduling aircraft that will regularly/reliably have the Premium Economy cabins. And it has been for more than a year. @:-)

I noticed the same thing back in the fall. It's some kind of odd thing AA is doing with PE on certain routes. You can read about it here: Odd revenue management practices emerging?

Someone speculated they were doing this on DFW-XXX longhaul routes, but that if you searched - e.g. - OKC-DFW-ICN, it would come up for sale in W/P class.

I'll check out that thread. I was actually doing BWI-DFW-ICN, but didn't think the BWI part was relevant.

Could a travel agent book it properly, or is it something I'd have to call AA for?

If the flight you are looking at is like the flights I was looking at for LHR back in October, then it's W0 P0, which means that AA has 0 PE seats for sale in any fare class. I don't use travel agents to book, but I doubt they would find anything else for you if AA is not offering anything in PE for sale at all.

Yeah, no idea on that. I'll be renewing my EF subscription so that can give a better idea.

If they're not selling it, then how does one get into PE?

Like I said, I don't know what's going on. All I know is I've seen the booking engine give me different results than what I asked for (and it though it was doing me a favor with a cheaper fare ) and even an AAgent couldn't fix it. In fact, the AAgent got completely different results. AA has made it hard for me to give them money at times.

I see plenty of PE availability the first few weeks of February on both ExpertFlyer and AA.com. There are a couple of days where it looks sold out (e.g., DFW-ICN on 2/8), but I'm not really sure what the problem is.

Ouch. Flew to Argentina last year from MIA and jumped on PE upgrade for $200. Just booked a flight to BRU and the upgrade to PE is now over $1k.

Looked at upgrades and it’s 25k miles plus $350, biz now $550. Guess becoming Plt Pro for first time only useful domestically.

Its 25k / 350$ to upgrade to Business one way. There is no way to upgrade to PE currently. The 550$ co-pay is for Business to 1st.
