Earning Elite Qualifying Miles and Dollars, and Award Miles Flying on Qatar Airways link to page on aa.com

To earn AAdvantage miles when you fly on Qatar Airways marketed and operated flights as well as Qatar Airways codeshare flights operated by oneworld carriers and affiliates:
  • Buy an eligible published fare ticket in an eligible booking code
  • Fly an eligible route
On most flights marketed by partner airlines, you earn award miles based on a percentage of the flight distance and the fare class of your ticket. Specific flights, routes or cities that are excluded from earning miles or award travel are listed as exceptions if applicable.

AFFILIATE AIRLINES (none)

Qatar Airways marketed (codeshare) flights must be operated by a oneworld or affiliate airline to earn AAdvantage miles. The ticketing or selling carrier or agent is immaterial to earnings.

Miles and other earnings may take a week or longer, and in some reported instances have not posted at all without intervention.

It is always advised to try to assure your AA Frequent Flyer Number is on your boarding passes, and we always advise retaining your boarding passes (or take screen shots of e-boarding passes) until your earnings have all posted.

My flights on August 14/15 posted yesterday. 18-19 day wait. I submitted a claim on AA website after 10 days. Today got an email from AA saying claim denied because miles posted to my QR account but I dont have a QR account. So the miles are in my AA account even though AA says denied lol.

In my last trip in August all legs posted 15 days after my return. Usually it's within a week but agree with other posters, always hang onto boarding passes with QR.

I'm currently dealing with AAdvantage on a QR flight from June 28. QR denied it, the response was that they couldn't determine whether I was on the flight. Emailed a photo of my boarding pass to AAdvantage, they're following up. I expect that I'll win this in the end. SAVE YOUR BOARDING PASSES.

One other thing that was a problem for me that the AAdvantage phone rep filled me in on. On long (many flights) itineraries, sometimes flights post but you can't see the posting in aa.com. You have to call to verify. It's a system issue, and they're aware of it, but I get the impression that there are no current plans to fix it. So I called last night with 20 boarding passes for which I saw no posting, but as we went through them, she satisfied me that they had, indeed, posted even though I could not see them on aa.com. Of the 20 I started with, I'm now down to the one QR flight from June.

QR is the only airline I've ever had to fight to get credited. I also got the "We can't tell if you were on the flight or not" response.

In the end, I'm not sure but I suspect the AA rep I was dealing with gave up on QR and credited the miles. I remember her saying things along the lines of "that's ridiculous" and "I have no idea of what they're up to here" while she looked at the case notes. This was years ago, so it's disheartening to see them continue to use that line.

Overall, I still like and appreciate QR's in-flight experience but their customer service and IT are problematic at best.

Three out of four legs from a June trip posted within one week, outbound flight DFW-DOH was delayed by 6 hrs and it took me almost two months to get credit for that flight after submitting boarding pass two times. Typically takes a couple of weeks to capture all flights for me.

How long does QR take to credit miles to AA?

I flew QR J CGK-LHR two weeks ago (Sep 16) and hasnt seen my miles credited on AA. I was flying with my mom and I take a look at her CX MPC, it hasnt been credited either(?) I claimed with AA two days ago. Anyone has recent experience with this? Full disclosure: I originally booked R but was rebooked in J by their office due to equipment swap involving Q suites.

I flew QR class R (discount business) last year and was credited about a week after my flight.

Takes 2-4 weeks in my experience. There's an entire thread for these datapoints.

I have the same problem. It has been 15 days (Sep 16) since my flight and it hasnt been credited to my AA. Was flying with my mom and hers has not been posted On her CX MPC either...

full disclosure: I booked R class, and i was rebooked on J due to Qsuites equipment swap. I hope this is not a factor.

last year I flew R with QR and was posted about a week after my flight.
